When analyzing gasification syngas using an Austrian apparatus, CO is absorbed using ammonium cuprous chloride; the measured concentration is higher than that obtained by chromatography. What is the reason for this?
In terms of the accuracy of the analysis method, chromatography should be accurate; it is necessary to rule out whether the accuracy of the standard gas is the same as that of the injection conditions. There are relatively more sources of error for oxygen analyzers; for example, it depends on whether carbon dioxide and oxygen are completely absorbed. If not, when ammonium cuprous chloride is used to absorb carbon monoxide, it may also absorb CO2, O2, and CO at the same time, resulting in higher values.
