Precautions for the MTBE reactor switching (A–B) step; I would be grateful if experts could share their insights. Thank you
The general principle should be to start operating one tower first, and only after it is functioning properly should the other tower be shut down.
When throwing, throw it through the entrance and exit first; pay attention to what to do when throwing
First, open the outlet; don’t open it wide. Gradually increase the temperature and pressure, and once they are similar to those in the other tower, then open the inlet. After adjusting all parameters to normal levels, switch off the other tower.
What problems usually arise when throwing? Could you tell me? Thank you, regarding the abnormal situations
The switching of the etherification reactor can be done online or before starting up. Due to the low reaction temperature and pressure, it is sufficient to pay attention to the system pressure and temperature during the switching process. The original reactor can first be connected in parallel with the existing reactor, after which the feed to the original reactor can be gradually reduced, which may help minimize fluctuations
When looking for parallel switching again, it’s also necessary to first open the outlet to release pressure at the top of the tower
When cutting, first adjust the alcohol-to-olefin ratio, then slightly open the inlet and wait until the reactor is filled with liquid and all air has been removed. Increase the inlet valve slightly more to raise the pressure difference, and then open the outlet valve. Control the bed temperature properly
Open the inlet slightly. Once the pressure is approximately at the desired level, open the outlet a bit to pour the liquid phase into the reactor; at the same time, open the atmospheric vent to release gases. Once the liquid phase fills the reactor, close the atmospheric vent valve. Then increase the opening of the outlet valve and the inlet valve to start feeding material into the reactor. The valve openings must be kept small, otherwise the catalytic distillation tower at the back will become too large.
