FEED design work for Russia’s Baltic Chemical Complex project has commenced

The FEED design for the public and auxiliary facilities of the Russian Baltic Chemical Complex project, which is under the FEED+EPC general contracting of Sinochem 7th Construction, commenced recently at Hefei Donghua Institute (Chemical Engineering Third Institute). The construction site for the Russian Baltic Chemical Complex is located in the town of Ust-Luga on the Russian Baltic Sea. It is a new natural gas processing and chemical complex that will be built in two phases. The project is divided into four sections, including the ethane cracking unit (ECU), the polyethylene (PE) and LAO plant units, and the utility and auxiliary facilities unit. The plant facilities mainly include: 2*1.4 million tons/year ethylene cracking units ； 6*480,000 tons/year polyethylene plant ； 2*137,000 tons/year LAO plant (62,000 tons/year 1-butene and 75,000 tons/year 1-hexene), off-site facilities (OSBL), etc. The total value of the FEED+EPC turnkey contract for this project is approximately 12 billion euros.
It’s unknown who will be chosen to design the facilities for this project It seems that Sinochem’s design institute does not yet have any design projects for ethylene.
