On July 17, the intermediate handover ceremony for the Tarim 600,000 tons per year ethane-to-ethylene project of Dushanzi Petrochemical was held at the project management office for the ethylene production facility. Thus, this important project, which has been **designated by the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology** as a demonstration project for ethylene cracking, has been fully completed. It has now entered the critical phase of joint commissioning and commencement of operations. Leveraging its own resources, the ethylene plant employs an ethane steam cracking process technology developed independently by China National Petroleum Corporation; it serves as a model for promoting the high-value comprehensive utilization of resources and reducing reliance on foreign technologies in the ethylene industry. Compared to ethylene production from liquefied gas, naphtha, hydrogenated tail oil, diesel, and coal, the production of ethylene from ethane offers numerous advantages, including a higher yield of ethylene, lower energy consumption, a shorter process flow, and lower costs.
