From July 19th to 20th, Wang Yigou, Secretary of the Yueyang Municipal Party Committee, led a delegation to Beijing once again to hold in-depth discussions with relevant parties regarding the planning and construction of the 1.5 million tons per year ethylene project, in an effort to secure support for it. Xiang Weixiong, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Executive Deputy Director of the Municipal People’s Congress; Tan Zhenghong, member of the Municipal Party Committee and Secretary-General of the Municipal Party Committee; Li Meiyun, Vice Mayor; and He Zuoyun, Deputy Chairman of the Municipal Political Consultative Conference, also attended. Since Ma Weiming, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Governor, led a delegation to Sinopec for discussions on April 25 this year, both the provincial and municipal authorities have attached great importance to this matter, approaching the challenges with a determination to overcome the impossible, and good progress has been made on the 1.5 million tons per year ethylene refining and chemical integration project. At the same time, the current project has also entered its most critical phase. On the morning of July 19, Wang Yigou went to the Industry Development Department of the **National Development and Reform Commission to report on the progress of the 1.5 million tons per year ethylene project. The relevant officials from that department expressed approval of the progress made on this project, and the two sides reached a consensus on various related matters. On the afternoon of July 19, Wang Yigou and his party visited the headquarters of Sinopec Group to meet with Yu Baocai, a member of the Party group and deputy general manager of the group. The two sides had another in-depth discussion on the plan to build an ethylene plant with an annual production capacity of 1.5 million tons in Yue. During the discussion, Wang Yigou provided a detailed introduction to the progress of the project. He said that taking the integrated development of Sinopec Baling Petrochemical Company and Changling Refining & Chemical Company as an opportunity to advance the construction of a 1.5 million tons per year ethylene refining and chemical integration project is a crucial step in implementing the strategy of \"controlling refining, reducing oil production, and increasing chemical production\" in order to improve the quality and efficiency of the petrochemical industry. He expressed the hope that Sinopec Group would continue to support the construction of this project, while Yueyang would actively fulfill its local responsibilities and make every effort to accelerate the project’s progress in order to strengthen the petrochemical industry. Yu Baocai expressed his sincere gratitude once again to Hunan Province and Yueyang City for their ongoing support for the development of the local petrochemical industry. He said that Yueyang is making rapid progress in the construction of integrated refining and chemical processing projects, with notable results already achieved. Sinopec will work together with Yueyang to secure the necessary support in order to advance these projects. On the morning of July 20, Wang Yigou held a symposium on expert consultation and planning for the development of the petrochemical industry in Yueyang City at the Hunan Building in Beijing, and presented appointment letters to the experts involved in this development work. At the meeting, academicians and experts of the Chinese Academy of Engineering such as Wang Jiming, Yuan Qingtang, Li Dadong, Sun Lili, and Wang Yongjian offered suggestions and insights based on practical experience regarding the formulation of a high-quality development plan for the petrochemical industry. Wang Yigou listened carefully to the experts’ remarks, expressing his sincere gratitude for their valuable insights. He asked the relevant departments to thoroughly consider these suggestions and incorporate them into the planning process for our city’s petrochemical industry. He hoped that the experts and scholars would continue to support the high-quality development of Yueyang’s petrochemical industry by offering more suggestions to help strengthen this sector.
