Recently, China National Chemical Engineering Corporation No. 10 Construction Co., Ltd. won the bid for Xuzhou Longxingtai Energy Technology Co., Ltd.’s project to produce methanol from coke oven gas at a capacity of 300,000 tons per year, as well as liquid ammonia at a capacity of 100,000 tons per year; the value of the contract was 280 million yuan. The project is located in the Pizhou Economic Development Zone of Xuzhou City, and it represents the largest methanol production project using coke oven gas in China at present (the designed annual production capacity of the methanol plant is 400,000 tons). The main scope of the company’s contracts includes the EPC general contracting within the preliminary design phase for projects involving the production of methanol from 300,000 tons per year of coke oven gas and liquid ammonia at a rate of 100,000 tons per year; coordination with commissioning tests and startup trials; as well as providing after-sales service. By integrating six companies – Xuzhou Qiangsheng Urban Gas Co., Ltd., Xuzhou Tengda Coking Co., Ltd., Xuzhou Huayu Gas Co., Ltd., Xuzhou Zhongtai Energy Technology Co., Ltd., Xuzhou Dongxing Energy Co., Ltd., and Xuzhou Longshan Coking Co., Ltd. – Longxingta boasts a coking production capacity of 5.9026 million tons per year. It has established a new coking production facility with a capacity of 2.6 million tons in the chemical industry cluster area of Pizhou Economic Development Zone, to the north and west of Yizhou Technology Co., Ltd. This is the “Xuzhou Longxingta Energy Technology Co., Ltd. Project for Producing 2.6 million tons of coke per year, along with 300,000 tons of methanol and 100,000 tons of synthetic ammonia (Yizhou Technology Phase III Project).” Methanol is produced from 300,000 tons per year of coke oven gas. The coke oven gas is compressed, and an adsorption tower TSA is used to remove tar and naphthalene; subsequent desulfurization is carried out in a desulfurization tank and an iron-molybdenum converter. Through a preheater and a conversion reactor, the methane in the raw gas is converted into the effective gases CO and H2 required for methanol synthesis. Finally, methanol synthesis and distillation are performed to obtain the methanol product. The plant is designed with a capacity of 300,000 tons per year; the actual output is 346,000 tons per year of pure methanol, along with 2,500 tons per year of fusel oils. A 100,000 tons/year synthetic ammonia plant produces synthetic ammonia using the vent gas from a methanol synthesis unit as raw material. The off-gas from the methanol synthesis alcohol washing tower is subjected to hydrogen extraction using PSA; the hydrogen and nitrogen are then mixed in a ratio of 3:1 and sent to the ammonia synthesis unit. The designed capacity of the ammonia synthesis plant is 100,000 tons per year, with an actual production volume of 89,600 tons per year.
