On October 22, the 100,000-ton/year thermoplastic elastomer (SBS) production unit of the Gulei refining and chemical integration project successfully completed the entire production process and produced qualified products, marking a successful first trial run of this unit and laying a solid foundation for increasing the company’s revenue and profits. Construction of the thermoplastic elastomer (SBS) plant officially began in October 2019, and it was successfully completed on September 15, 2021. This facility utilizes advanced domestic manufacturing technologies and is equipped with three production lines. It is planned to produce a total of 6 different grades of products, including oil-impregnated rubber and non-oil-impregnated rubber. These products are widely used in industries such as shoe manufacturing, asphalt modification, and polymer modification. Behind this success lies the joint efforts and persistent dedication of all departments and professionals at Gulei Petrochemical. As the last set of units to come online this year, the commissioning trial operation received great attention from the company’s management, who visited the site on multiple occasions to provide guidance and oversight. Since the start of production, the staff of the thermoplastic elastomer unit in Chemical Engineering Department 3 have worked together with specialists from electrical, instrumentation, maintenance, and other fields to make every effort in preparing for the commissioning process. In response to issues identified during operations such as water-oil integration, joint testing, and the \"three inspections and four determinations\" procedures, plans were formulated and tasks were assigned with set deadlines. Meanwhile, management personnel held discussions with the commissioning expert team to further refine the commissioning plan and emergency response strategies, optimize the commissioning process, continuously improve the control mechanisms, enhance the level of automation, reduce operational burdens and fluctuations in product quality, ensure precise material feeding and controlled processes, and gradually enable multi-reactor feeding to increase production efficiency. In recent years, China’s SBS industry has maintained steady growth, with both supply and demand for SBS increasing steadily. The operation of the SBS plant at Gulei Petrochemical will bring benefits to the company’s development. In the subsequent phase of regular production, the team from Chemical Department 3 will continue to work hard, ensure thorough implementation of tasks, optimize the production structure, and focus on energy conservation and efficiency improvement, thereby contributing to the company’s goal of becoming a world-class petrochemical enterprise.
