The storage tank for Propylene C is required to maintain a temperature below 30°C; if the temperature exceeds 30°C, an interlocked spraying cooling system must be installed. Why?
Check the saturated vapor pressure of propylene at 30°C; it is likely to be at a high pressure, which can pose a risk. Liquid chlorine does have such storage temperature requirements
Boiling point: 56.5°C. Saturated vapor pressure: 24 kPa (20°C). Storage methods: 1. This product is highly flammable and poses a serious fire risk; it belongs to Class A fire hazards. Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated place, away from heat sources, flames, and substances that are incompatible. All containers should be placed on the ground. However, propylene that has been stored for a long time or recovered often contains acidic impurities, which are corrosive to metals. 2. Pack in 200L iron drums, with a net weight of 160kg per drum; the inside of the drums should be clean and dry. Store in a dry and well-ventilated area at a temperature below 35°C. Prevent severe impacts during loading, unloading, and transportation, as well as exposure to sunlight and rain. Store and transport in accordance with the regulations for fireproof and explosion-proof chemicals. 3. Store in a dedicated warehouse that is cool and well-ventilated, away from sources of fire and heat. The storage temperature should not exceed 29°C. Keep the container sealed. It should be stored separately from oxidizers, reducers, and alkalis; mixed storage is strictly prohibited. Use explosion-proof lighting and ventilation facilities. The use of mechanical equipment and tools that may generate sparks is prohibited. The storage area should be equipped with emergency response equipment for leaks and appropriate containment materials.
