Recently, China’s first production facility for butylene oxide using the 4,000 tons/year CHP (isopropylbenzene peroxide) process was commissioned at Yanshan Petrochemical, marking a significant step forward in the localization of butylene oxide production in China. Epoxymethane is an important chemical raw material, primarily used in the production of intermediates and polymers. It is currently employed in areas such as lubricant additives, low-foam detergents, and synthetic rubber. This device utilizes the CHP process technology for the production of butylene oxide, which was independently developed by the Shanghai Research Institute of Petrochemical Technology. Compared with other co-oxidation methods, it offers advantages such as high production efficiency, excellent product quality, low generation of waste materials, and the possibility of complete treatment of such waste. Once the facility is put into operation, it will significantly increase the rate of domestic production as a substitute for epichlorohydrin, providing strong support for China’s industries that use epichlorohydrin to reduce costs, improve quality, and expand the range of applications.
