On November 2, China’s first liquefied natural gas storage tank with a capacity of 270,000 cubic meters – and also the largest of its kind in the world at present – was officially put into use at Sinopec’s Qingdao LNG receiving station. This tank will add an additional storage capacity of 165 million cubic meters, sufficient to meet the gas needs of 2.16 million households during the 5-month heating season. It will significantly enhance the gas supply capacity in North China, laying a solid resource foundation for the upcoming winter heating season. Just how large is it? It can fit inside a C919 large passenger aircraft! Developed independently by Sinopec, it leads the way in the design and construction of super-large LNG storage tanks.
