Recently, the 450,000 tons per year high-performance polypropylene project in the second phase of Jinneng Chemical completed all its processes and produced qualified polypropylene products. The successful trial production of the polypropylene project in Phase 2 of Jinneng Chemical marks the official entry of this project into the production phase, which will bring new momentum to the supply in the polypropylene market. This has further strengthened the industrial strength of the Qingdao region in the chemical industry, injecting new momentum into the regional economic development. Public information shows that Jinneng Chemical (Qingdao) Co., Ltd. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Jinneng Technology Co., Ltd., located in the Dongjiakou Economic Zone in Qingdao. It was established in 2018. The total investment for Phase 1 and Phase 2 of Jinneng Chemical’s projects is 20.3 billion yuan, which is primarily used to build facilities for producing 480,000 tons per year of green carbon black, 1.8 million tons per year of propylene dehydrogenation products, and 2 million tons per year of high-performance polypropylene. The project is carried out in two phases. Phase 1 began with the laying of the foundation in December 2018, construction started in February 2019, operations commenced in September 2021, and sales revenue reached 11.089 billion yuan in 2022. The second-phase project mainly involves the construction of a 900,000 tons per year propane dehydrogenation unit and 2 × 450,000 tons per year high-performance polypropylene plants; construction began in November 2021.
