On March 17, the Haihe Road hydrogen station operated by Qingdao Refining & Chemicals obtained a carbon neutrality certificate after passing certification by an authoritative third-party agency. This marks Sinopec’s successful creation of China’s first carbon-neutral hydrogen station, serving as a model for traditional energy companies to transform into comprehensive energy service providers. This hydrogen station makes innovative use of the energy-saving technology of \"flexible virtual hydrogen storage,\" which significantly reduces the energy consumption required for refueling. It is equipped with a 5.5-megawatt distributed photovoltaic power generation system on water, whose annual electricity output is sufficient to meet the power needs of the hydrogen station. “The development path of \"application of energy-saving technologies + replacement with green electricity\" not only meets the power demands of the station area fully, but also enables the carbon emissions reductions to offset those generated throughout the operation process, thus creating a complete carbon-neutral cycle. As a pioneer in the hydrogen energy industry, Qingdao Refining & Chemical has supplied over 800 tons of high-purity hydrogen since 2021 for applications such as hydrogen-powered buses and hydrogen trucks. Leveraging its hydrogen energy \"production-research-development\" demonstration park and its advantages in integrating photovoltaic power with green electricity, Qingdao Refining & Chemical will launch a project for the production of green hydrogen for use in transportation, aiming to advance the development of hydrogen-based transportation solutions.
