Recently, the project to remove bottlenecks and improve energy efficiency in Fushun Petrochemical Company’s 800,000 tons per year ethylene production facility, which is managed by Global Project Company, officially commenced. This project adopts an IPMT integrated project management approach, carrying out bottleneck elimination and energy efficiency improvements through the installation of new equipment, thereby providing a practical example for the green transformation of the traditional petrochemical industry. The components that are to be constructed first this time include key units such as the air separation nitrogen production system, air bath cooling system, and distillation tower system; these are integral parts of the utility systems. Once completed, they will provide gas power support for the major maintenance work scheduled for September this year. Project Details: The project to remove bottlenecks and improve energy efficiency in Fushun Petrochemical Company’s 800,000 tons per year ethylene production facility was funded and constructed by CNPC. The renovation and expansion work took place within the premises of CNPC Fushun Petrochemical Company, located in the Chemicals and Fine Chemicals Industrial Park of Fushun High-Tech Industrial Development Zone. Leveraging the abundant crude oil resources in Daqing and Shenbei, as well as the existing refining processes, the project expands the 800,000 tons per year ethylene production capacity to 950,000 tons per year. At the same time, efforts are made to improve energy efficiency; the 160,000 tons per year butadiene extraction capacity is increased to 180,000 tons per year, and the 40,000/80,000 tons per year 1-butene/MTBE production capacity is raised to 50,000/100,000 tons per year. Additionally, a new 200,000 tons per year solution polymerization polyethylene plant and a 150,000 tons per year polypropylene plant are constructed. On September 10, Fushun Petrochemical Company held a review meeting for the basic design of the project aimed at removing bottlenecks in the 800,000 tons per year ethylene production facility and improving its energy efficiency. It is one of the enterprises directly under Fushun Petrochemical Branch; it is situated near major heavy-industry sites such as the Fushun coal mines, boasts abundant natural resources, and has a solid foundation in industrial management. To build the Fushun Petrochemical million-ton ethylene project, the olefin plant construction project was officially approved by the State Council in November 2006. Construction began in 2008, with individual units undergoing commissioning starting in August 2012, and the plant was put into formal operation in November 2013. The production facilities at Fushun Petrochemical Company’s olefin plant include an ethylene plant with a capacity of 800,000 tons per year, along with nine additional units for downstream processing: 400,000 tons per year of gasoline hydrogenation, 400,000 tons per year of benzene extraction, 160,000 tons per year of butadiene, 40,000 tons per year of butylene, 450,000 tons per year of linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE), 350,000 tons per year of high-density polyethylene (HDPE), 300,000 tons per year of polypropylene, and 200,000 tons per year of styrene-butadiene rubber.
