On May 14, the 2×450,000 tons/year polypropylene plants at CNOOC Ningbo Daxie Petrochemical were completed and entered the production preparation phase. This facility utilizes Sinopec’s third-generation ST loop process technology for polypropylene production, and it boasts the largest production capacity among similar facilities in China at present. This polypropylene plant is the core facility of the product upgrading, expansion, and renovation project for the Daxie Petrochemical integrated refining and chemical processing complex. It was constructed under EPC general contracting by Sinopec Engineering Corporation, with construction and installation work carried out by Ningbo Engineering Company’s construction and installation branch. This project has been designated as a major industrial project in Zhejiang Province and a key project in Ningbo City; it is also a key project under the **Petroleum and Chemical Industry Planning Scheme**. Once the project is put into operation, it will help Daxie Petrochemical achieve a comprehensive production capacity of tens of millions of tons in oil refining, as well as millions of tons in aromatics and polyolefins, thereby significantly enhancing the company’s market competitiveness and sustainability. The product upgrading, expansion, and renovation project for the Daxie Petrochemical integration facility involves the construction of 14 new units, including 6 million tons per year of atmospheric and vacuum distillation capacity, 3.2 million tons per year of catalytic cracking capacity, 2.2 million tons per year of wax oil hydrogenation capacity, 1.5 million tons per year of continuous reforming capacity, and 1.5 million tons per year of hydrocracking capacity. Additionally, storage, transportation, utility, and auxiliary facilities are being built to support these operations. The project also includes 2×450,000 tons per year polypropylene plants, which are the largest of their kind in China at present; the product types include homopolymers, random copolymers, and impact-resistant copolymers. Upon completion of the project, Daxie Petrochemical’s polypropylene production capacity will reach 1.2 million tons per year, which will help Daxie Petrochemical strengthen its industrial foundation and develop as well as expand its industrial chain.
