Renovation of Daqing Petrochemical’s linear polyethylene plant for POE production 2025-06-18 17:47:12 On June 16, the project to optimize the production of polyolefin elastomers at Daqing Petrochemical’s linear polymerization unit, operated by China National Petroleum Corporation, was approved for implementation! The total investment amount is 39.1 million yuan. The project utilizes the proprietary technology of PetroChina Group to carry out bottleneck-removing upgrades to existing linear polyethylene plants, in order to produce gas-phase polyolefin elastomers (POE). The main product is polyolefin elastomer (POE) at 40,000 tons per year. On June 9, the result of the EPC general contract bidding for the main construction phase of Daqing Petrochemical Company’s new 30,000-ton/year POE industrial demonstration plant project was announced; the winner of the bid was CNPC Jilin Chemical Engineering Co., Ltd. This project involves the construction of a new 30,000-ton/year POE industrial demonstration plant by Daqing Petrochemical Company. Its main components include the use of China National Petroleum Corporation’s own technologies, covering process units such as raw material storage and purification, catalyst preparation, polymerization, solvent and monomer recovery, and extrusion granulation, along with supporting auxiliary facilities. Planned completion date: The completion of this project is scheduled by June 30, 2026, starting from the date the contract comes into effect. After more than a decade of technical research and development, the Petrochemical Research Institute of CNPC has overcome a series of engineering challenges related to rapid heat removal from reactors, stable polymerization control, deep devolatilization, and product granulation. It has built a \"thousand-ton per year experimental facility for high-end elastomers using the solution method,\" and developed 12 POE products for use in areas such as photovoltaic film, impact modification, foaming, and cables ； A 10,000-ton/year process package was designed to enable engineering implementation. This technological process successfully broke the technical monopoly held by foreign companies, achieving a comprehensive breakthrough for China National Petroleum Corporation in the field of POE new materials.
