It was recently learned that **the public consultation information regarding the environmental impact assessment for the project on optimizing α-olefin separation technology and scaling up its implementation at Ningxia Coal Industry Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the Energy Group, has been made available. Project Name: **Optimization of α-olefin separation technology and scale-up project for Ningxia Coal Industry Co., Ltd. under Energy Group**. Nature of Construction: New construction. Constructor: **Ningxia Coal Industry Co., Ltd. under Energy Group**. Location of Construction: Ningdong Energy and Chemical Industry Base, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. Scale of Construction: Annual production of 796 tons of 1-hexene and 476 tons of 1-octene, with an annual by-product of 1,411.52 tons of C6 and C8 alkane mixture. Construction contents: The main facilities to be built include extraction distillation towers, extractant recovery towers, 1-hexene distillation towers, etherification reactors, heat exchangers and associated pipe racks, storage tanks, pumps, etc.; the utility and auxiliary systems will make use of the existing installations. On June 4, the list of candidates shortlisted for the public bidding project for the development and preparation of a complete set of process packages for a thousand-ton-per-year production facility for high-viscosity PAO base oil at Ningxia Coal Industry was released. First winning bidder: Sinopec Ningbo Engineering Co., Ltd. **The scientific and technological innovation project of Ningxia Coal Industry Company, an energy group, titled “Development of a complete set of process technologies for the production of high-viscosity PAO via Fischer-Tropsch α-olefins,” focuses on developing a complete set of process technology packages for producing high-viscosity PAO base oil on a thousand-ton scale, as well as preparing feasibility study reports. This work provides technical support for the engineering design of facilities for producing high-viscosity PAO base oil at that scale. In February 2024, the \"10,000-ton per year production facility suite for low-viscosity PAO base oils\" developed through a collaboration between Ningxia Coal Industry Company, the Beijing branch of China Global Engineering Co., Ltd., Beijing University of Chemical Technology, and other organizations, passed the evaluation by an expert panel organized by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation; this development filled the gap in domestic technology for high-end lubricants.
