From November 22 to 24, the 2025 China-ASEAN International Industry Expo (Guangxi) was held at the Nanning International Convention and Exhibition Center. As an important platform for deepening the integration of industrial chains and supply chains between China and ASEAN, this expo is themed \"Cross-border Collaboration and Shared Development: Building a New Industrial Ecosystem between China and ASEAN.\" It focuses on key sectors such as petrochemicals, intelligent manufacturing, and new energy materials. Over 300 domestic and foreign companies participated in the exhibition, including nearly 100 purchasers from ASEAN, attracting tens of thousands of professional visitors for observation and exchanges. Currently, industrial cooperation between China and ASEAN is on the rise. According to data from the General Administration of Customs, China’s imports and exports with ASEAN in the first eight months of this year reached 4.93 trillion yuan, setting a new record for that period. Leveraging its logistics advantages, such as the New Western Land-Sea Corridor, Guangxi is becoming a preferred location for companies to establish manufacturing bases aimed at serving the ASEAN region. The petrochemical exhibition area is the highlight of this fair, accounting for 35% of the total exhibition space, and it showcases cutting-edge advancements in areas such as green refining and high-end chemical materials. CNPC Guangxi Petrochemical showcased its independently developed production technology for low-sulfur marine fuel oil, which enables the sulfur content to be reduced to below 0.1%. A model of its 1.5 million-ton annual aromatic compounds production facility attracted interest from companies such as Vietnam Petrochemical and PTT, which approached to discuss potential cooperation. According to the transaction statistics from the exhibition site, three leading companies in the exhibition area signed supply agreements for chemical raw materials worth a total of 230 million yuan with businesses from ASEAN; high-purity polyethylene products accounted for 60% of these agreements, representing a 45% increase compared to the amount signed at similar exhibitions last year. The intelligent manufacturing exhibition area was extremely popular, with a “smart army” of 280 collaborative robots serving as the main attraction. The smart island manufacturing system demonstrated by SAIC GM Wuling enables flexible production of 5 different vehicle models through digital twin technology, with an automation rate of 92%, which represents a three-fold increase in efficiency compared to traditional production lines. Indonesian Astra Group expressed its intention to establish a joint venture factory on site, with an initial plan to invest 500 million yuan to introduce this production technology. According to publicly available corporate data, the Liuzhou facility of SAIC GM Wuling exported new energy vehicles and their components to ASEAN countries for a total value of 6.18 billion yuan from January to August this year, representing a 66.5% increase on a year-on-year basis. Models equipped with intelligent control systems accounted for 72% of these exports. Significant achievements were made in the field of new energy and new materials. The exhibition area attracted more than 400 companies from over 20 countries around the world, with ASEAN companies accounting for 42% of them. The \"2025 Guangxi Calcium Carbonate Industry Development Report\" released alongside the exhibition shows that the annual export volume of ultra-fine calcium carbonate products from Guangxi to ASEAN is increasing at a rate of 28%. The model of the \"Beibu Gulf-1 Satellite\" displayed by CAS Satellite attracted much attention; this satellite has the capability to penetrate clouds and rain, enabling accurate monitoring of the areas affected by crop damage. The agricultural departments of Indonesia and Malaysia have expressed preliminary interest in cooperating, with plans to purchase 12 sets of satellite data reception equipment. According to the statistics on contracts signed at the exhibition, 62 projects related to new energy and new chemical materials were signed, with a total investment amount of 24.568 billion yuan, accounting for 91% of the total value of contracts signed at the event. The total exhibition area of this expo exceeded 20,000 square meters, with multiple specialized forums held concurrently, including the “China-ASEAN Green Petrochemicals Development Forum” and the “Smart Manufacturing Cross-Border Cooperation Summit”, attracting over 1,200 industry experts to attend. Data released by the Guangxi ASEAN Technology Transfer Center show that in the first half of this year, the volume of green technology transactions between China and ASEAN amounted to 4.7 billion yuan, with technology transactions in the fields of petrochemicals and new energy accounting for 73% of this total; the Guangxi platform played a key role in facilitating these transactions. The exhibition organizing committee stated that the implementation of achievements in key areas such as intelligent manufacturing, green energy, and new materials at this exhibition will further promote mutual recognition of standards and integration of industrial chains between China and ASEAN in fields such as high-end manufacturing and green industries. According to the General Administration of Customs, the total trade volume between China and ASEAN is expected to exceed 7.5 trillion yuan by 2025. Guangxi will continue to use industrial exhibitions as a platform to strengthen its role as a hub for regional industrial cooperation.
