According to a report from Sinochem News, in order to enhance guidance on market expectations and promote self-discipline within the industry, the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation has recently released the \"List of Products in the Petrochemical Industry That Are at Risk of Excess Supply (2025 Edition)\"); 15 products are identified as being at risk of having an excess supply in the market. The petrochemical industry is an important foundational and pillar industry of the national economy, playing a crucial role in stabilizing economic growth and ensuring the security of energy as well as industrial supply chains. To strengthen guidance on market expectations and industry self-discipline, the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation has organized relevant professional associations and consulting firms to analyze and assess the current production capacity, output, apparent consumption, imports and exports, as well as planned production capacity for certain chemical raw materials and new chemical products, along with their production capacity and market demand in 5 years’ time. The results showed that 15 products are at risk of an oversupply in the market. Among them: 12 products including propylene oxide, epichlorohydrin, acrylonitrile, polyvinyl chloride, chlorinated paraffins, polysiloxanes, acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene terpolymer (ABS), polybutylene terephthalate-adipate butyrate (PBAT), polyether polyols, 1,4-butanediol (BDO), nylon 66, and vinyl acetate are classified as high-risk; 3 products namely polypropylene, soda ash, and titanium dioxide are classified as relatively high-risk. Relevant companies are requested to pay attention to this.
