Recently, Sinopec Shanghai successfully optimized the feedstock structure of the cracking furnaces in the new ethylene plant, achieving significant efficiency improvements. Previously, in order to further reduce raw material costs, optimize the structure of the cracking feedstocks, and improve the overall efficiency of the ethylene plants, the Olefins Department of Shanghai Petrochemical carried out specialized optimization and renovation work on the cracking furnace systems in the new ethylene area. Through technical validation and pipeline modification, the company transformed its original co-cracking mode of “naphtha + liquefied petroleum gas” into a “light naphtha + liquefied petroleum gas” co-cracking mode. Calculations show that, under the current price system, using light naphtha as a cracking feedstock can result in significant efficiency gains, with markedly improved yields of high-value products such as ethylene, propylene, and hydrogen. Next, the Olefins Department of Shanghai Petrochemical will continue to explore energy-saving potential to ensure more stable and efficient operation of the facilities.
We have already carried out a lot of lightweighting modifications here; now, ethane is the main raw material used, and it’s not easy to work with.
