Repsol to restart Portuguese Sines cracker plant

　　Sinochem News According to sources, Spanish Repsol plans to restart the Portuguese Sines cracking unit and supporting butadiene extraction unit in June this year. Previously, the market had different opinions on the time for the device to resume production. 　　Industry data shows that the Sines cracking unit has an annual output of 410,000 tons of ethylene and 215,000 tons of propylene, and the annual production capacity of the downstream butadiene extraction unit reaches 50,000 tons. This mixed raw material cracking device has been shut down for maintenance for a long time since 2023, and the production shutdown period has been long. 　　At the same time, Repsol is investing in and building two new production units of linear low-density polyethylene and polypropylene in the Sines Cracking Unit Park. Each unit has a designed annual production capacity of 300,000 tons. The total investment in the project reaches 657 million euros. The two major devices were originally scheduled to be put into operation in 2025, but have been postponed to 2026. At present, Repsol has put into operation a polyethylene production facility with an annual output of 295,000 tons in this industrial base.
