The valve packing is leaking, and even if it’s tightened, it still doesn’t hold. What should be done? Moreover, the valve is in use and cannot be removed; please, experts, think of a solution – extra points for that
Check if there is a place with sealing grease; you can press it in directly.
If the medium is not hazardous, the valve can be opened to the maximum position to replace the packing using reverse sealing. If it is a flammable and explosive medium, it’s better to use glue injection treatment. There are professional leak sealing companies that can carry out leak sealing under pressure; they can drill holes and inject glue at the valve packing box while the system is under pressure.
Is the valve fully open when it is turned to the highest position?
I once tried loosening the filler switch valve several times before tightening it again, and then there was no more leakage; however, check what kind of medium is used – if it’s a hazardous medium, don’t try this approach.
Make a hole in the packing gland or stuffing box and inject the special sealant.
