If the level gauge of one boiler is showing abnormal readings, can we ask the workshop to shut down the boiler?

Under normal conditions, at the bottom of the green liquid level indicated by the level gauge, it should be red; this indicates the level of liquid in the boiler. Since this valve is damaged, the liquid cannot be retained and flows away immediately. The liquid level cannot be displayed; this level gauge is equipped with an alarm for extremely low liquid levels and a interlock function, but for some reason it does not activate. There is one on each side of the boiler; the other one is working properly, so the workshop remains operational. In such a case, can it be requested that the boiler be shut down for maintenance in accordance with item (8) of 10.5.4 of the \"TSG G0001-2012 Regulations on Safety Inspection of Boilers\"? ? Have any other sailors encountered a similar situation?
