What type of reactor is used in the Claus process? I need it for my course project :)
I’m not sure how detailed you need it to be. Generally, it involves a high-temperature fixed-bed reactor; the process gas containing sulfur vapor at the outlet is cooled by a large sulfur cooler. After cooling, the gaseous phase enters a secondary stage or an incineration system, while the liquid phase goes into a hopper equipped with a liquid seal and then flows into the liquid sulfur tank
It is the type of reactor used for the reaction in which hydrogen sulfide and sulfur dioxide are converted into elemental sulfur; the catalyst employed is Al2O3, and it can be either a fluidized bed or a fixed-bed reactor
Hello, I’m not in the design field; I work in production. I’ve never seen a fluidized bed as you mentioned. I’ve worked on three units, all of which used fixed-bed reactors – the smaller ones had a processing capacity of 10,000, while the larger ones had a capacity of 50,000, with three such reactors in total, all fixed-bed types
