The main lubrication methods are oil sump lubrication, forced oil supply lubrication, centralized lubrication, and pressure lubrication. The pressure oil supplied by the reciprocating compressor’s oil injector is injected into the cylinders to lubricate the friction surfaces between the cylinder walls and the pistons; these areas are subject to forced lubrication, with the lubricant being used once only. The lubricant in the crankcase is used to lubricate the crankshaft bearings as well as the friction surfaces between the crankshaft journals. There are also friction surfaces between the connecting rods, their end bearings, and the crankshaft as well as the crosshead pins; furthermore, there are friction surfaces related to the crosshead and its lubrication channels. All these areas are under forced circulation lubrication. The motor bearings and the crankshaft turner, as well as the reducer, are lubricated by oil bath lubrication
Piston rings and the cylinder block do not necessarily require lubrication, as lubrication in these areas may contaminate the medium.
