The compressor head is a GEA SP1 screw compressor, and the unit is of German Pegasus brand; it is used in a 1000M mine to provide cooling capacity for that mine. During unit operation, water entered the evaporator, which caused the refrigeration oil to deteriorate; as a result, the lubrication within the compressor was insufficient, leading to seizure at the exhaust end. Germany’s precision steel manufacturing still cannot escape the fate of frequent failures; at its core, this is a control issue. Equipment failures can be addressed from two aspects: human factors and physical factors. By strengthening technical operating standards among employees and installing safety alarm systems on equipment, it is possible to reduce failure rates fundamentally, which is a necessary condition for ensuring that equipment operates in a stable and reliable manner.
So that’s what the screw of a screw compressor looks like; I’ve learned something now.
To be honest. I’ve only seen the process of changing the seal or something like that; I’ve never seen it done by removing the screw. :lol
For compressors, lubricating oil is an extremely important element. Large devices like this must come equipped with a lubrication system, including oil tanks at different levels and such.

Oil-free screws are less commonly used in refrigeration, and the related technology is not yet mature; it is hoped that this technology will continue to improve. One cannot simply imitate; improving through imitation is what truly counts. To be honest, many compressors used in refrigeration in China are copies, and even these copies fail to meet the technical standards of foreign products. Technological innovation has not resolved quality issues; it is simply rejected in the high-end market, with only imported equipment being used.
Actually, it’s not a technical issue; it’s mainly a problem with mechanical processing, precision, and materials – these are important factors that affect the quality of domestically produced machines.
