Do reciprocating compressors have something called an oil scraper? Where is it located and what is its function?
To be precise, it is an oil scrapper; its function is to prevent lubricating oil from moving up the piston rod toward the packing box
The names may vary from place to place, and interpretations can also differ. I guess what you call an oil scraper is referred to as an oil slinger here; it is located in the groove in the middle of the bearing shell, and its function is to lubricate the bearing shell by utilizing the weight of the ring along with the centrifugal force generated by the rotation of the shaft

When installing the oil scraper, make sure that the cutting edge of the oil scraping ring is not installed in the wrong direction; when a one-way oil scraping ring is used, its cutting edge should face the direction of the aircraft fuselage. The axial clearance between the oil scrapper ring set and the end face of the oil scrapper box should be within the range of 0.05–0.10 mm.
