Generally speaking, asbestos seals have strong adaptability to operating conditions (resistance to temperature and chemical corrosion), but rubber seals provide a better sealing performance if the right material is chosen. More importantly, asbestos is harmful to the human body and is a known carcinogen; its use on ocean-going ships is strictly prohibited.
Materials cannot be considered good or bad; it depends only on whether they are suitable for a particular application. However, asbestos is an exception……It has been recommended that its use be prohibited……
