Is it possible for the shaft displacement of a centrifugal compressor to remain the same before and after startup?
Typically, thrust bearings are used to limit displacement, allowing only axial movement within a certain range. As for which side the force-bearing surface of the direct push is on, it is determined by the side where the forces are most balanced during normal use. However, the pressure change on the suction side during startup cannot be the same as that during normal production; in other words, the surface subjected to force is different. The movement of the axis is relatively controlled; macroscopic aspects need to be kept within certain limits. When the value is too high, it can only be attributed to an excessive thrust clearance; this is not acceptable. The clearance should be adjusted in accordance with the maintenance instructions.

I have two centrifugal compressors here, and the shaft displacement does not change before or after startup. The DC voltage displayed online is around 10V; I asked the technician to check it several times and they said there is no problem. Since it is in operation, it is difficult to disassemble and inspect the sensor.
