Step 1 in installing a high-voltage motor coupling: First, sand the motor shaft and the coupling until they are clean. Turn the motor shaft keyway upward, install the key, and apply butter. Step two: Place the coupling in the oil pan and heat it using a fire until the temperature reaches around 200 degrees Celsius. The technician said that there should be no impurities in the oil, as this could cause the coupling to become eccentric and affect its alignment. Step three: Use a crane to lift the coupling out; the crane should be equipped with a winch, which in turn is used to lift the coupling. This allows for slight adjustments to the position of the coupling. Step four: Push the coupling to the position where it should be on the motor shaft. Step five: Pour water at the motor shaft bearing to cool it down, in order to prevent damage to the motor shaft bearing.
First, the magnetic center line of the high-voltage motor should be identified, followed by alignment. Finally, the coupling should be installed and the bolts tightened
