Are there still chemical plants that use cast-iron equipment?
Use it; many water pumps are made of cast iron
Basically, pressure vessels are rarely used these days; however, housings for mechanical equipment or components that belong to such equipment still exist.
Cast iron equipment is not very common, but cast iron valves are quite available
It mainly depends on where it will be used; for example, what material is used for the base of large vertical multi-stage compressors if cast iron isn’t suitable?
