I have a question: does anyone know the installation sequence of the flow-blocking ring, sealing ring, and tangential ring in the packing of a piston compressor? Should the flow-blocking ring be placed on the crankshaft side or the cylinder side?
In the Holbig training materials, the order is: (cylinder) flow-blocking ring, radial ring, tangential ring, (crosshead)
The flow-blocking ring is installed on the non-pressure side! :)
I’m interested in learning about *packing glands; could anyone provide some information? Thank you
The sealing line on the high-pressure side is short, so the flow-blocking ring in small compressors does not play a very significant role
The flow-blocking ring serves a throttling function (it is a radial ring with a gap from the piston rod) and protects the sealing ring behind it (the tangential ring, which remains in contact with the piston rod even after wearing out)
The sequence from the cylinder to the crankshaft is: radial ring, tangential ring, flow-blocking ring.
Up to the third floor! The throttle sleeve is on the high-pressure side (cylinder side)
