What is the main function of the compressor balance disk, and what is its relationship with the sealing gas? I would appreciate some guidance from those with experience in this area. Thank you!
The balance disc uses the axial thrust generated by the pressure difference between the gases on its two sides to partially counteract the rotor’s axial force.
The balance disc has no connection with the sealing gas.
The sealing gas is sealed into the balance chamber behind the balance disc through a labyrinth seal, and then connected to the outlet via a balance tube. The balance disc is primarily used to counteract the axial thrust in the direction of the outlet
