Dear teachers: According to Section 6.2.2.9 of the \"Safety Management Specifications for Liquefied Hydrocarbon Storage Tanks in Chemical Enterprises\" (AQ 3059-2023), the fire-resistant layer on the supports of spherical storage tanks shall not cover the ventilation openings. What is the purpose of the vents on the pillars?
The vents on the pillar are used to maintain gas pressure balance inside and outside the pillar, as well as to remove any moisture or other substances that may accumulate within it. This is done to prevent pressure differences between the inside and outside caused by temperature or pressure changes, thereby avoiding damage to the stability of the pillar structure. Covering the ventilation openings will impair their proper function and may pose safety risks. .
