5.5 is measured without seals (interstage seals, shaft end seals, etc.), and 3.5 is measured after seals are installed. If a thrust bearing is installed, the clearance of the sunken drum thrust bearing is generally 0.25-0.35.
The total distance between the impeller and the partition should be no less than 5.5. When the thrust bearing is in the installation position, the gap between the impeller and the partition plate is not less than 3.5
The phrase "when the thrust bearing is in the installed position" does not mean that the bearing is actually installed. First, determine the alignment of the impeller outlet and the baffle flow channel through the 5.5mm diameter. After ensuring the best alignment, the position of the thrust plate at this time is the position where the thrust bearing will be installed in the future. The adjustment pad on the thrust bearing should be ground according to this position.
