Wear of reciprocating compressor piston rings

There is one nitrogen reciprocating compressor; piston ring wear led to cylinder scoring, and cylinder expansion was carried out (an expansion of 5 mm). The piston rings currently in use wear out severely within less than a month. Some say it’s due to the piston head being too heavy, while others claim it’s because of the poor quality of the piston rings. Has anyone encountered a similar situation? I want to modify and redesign the cylinder liners and piston rings.
If the process conditions permit, considering adding oil to the cylinder for lubrication is an option
How long has the unit been in operation? Does this problem occur only with new units? Consider whether the assembly of the support ring meets the clearance requirements ；
It is likely a problem with the material of the piston rings
