The reciprocating compressors produced by our factory, Shenyu, are 6-cylinder units; why then does the first cylinder have 3 cylinders?
It’s like a pump: as the stroke increases, the force applied also increases. The gas is compressed in stages; as the pressure increases, the forces acting on each piston must be balanced, which means that the higher the pressure, the smaller the diameter of the cylinder. The first stage has the largest diameter; in order to balance the stress points on the rotor, or due to constraints imposed by the equipment’s structural design, a cylinder with a large diameter is divided into several relatively smaller cylinders.
