The importance of dynamic balancing

High-speed rotating machinery is greatly affected by the material being processed; impacts, corrosion, wear, and coking can all cause imbalance issues in the machine’s rotor system. And 70% of the vibration faults in rotating machinery stem from imbalance in the rotor system. A balancing machine is a device used to measure the magnitude and position of the imbalance in rotating objects (rotors). Whenever a rotor rotates around its axis, centrifugal forces are generated due to the uneven distribution of mass relative to that axis. This unbalanced centrifugal force acting on the rotor bearings causes vibration, generates noise, and accelerates bearing wear, thereby severely affecting the performance and lifespan of the product. During the manufacturing process, motor rotor components all need to be balanced in order to operate smoothly and properly. By correcting the imbalance of the rotor based on the data obtained from the balancing machine, the mass distribution of the rotor with respect to its axis can be improved, thereby reducing the vibrations generated during rotation or the forces acting on the bearings to acceptable levels.
