Dear industry professionals, what gases are generally compressed by large reciprocating compressors in their operation?
This issue must be considered in terms of the physicochemical properties of the medium.
This depends on the selection made in process design; generally, design institutes will decide whether to use a reciprocating machine or a centrifuge based on the process requirements. Generally, for applications with high flow rates and low pressure differences, centrifuges are recommended, while reciprocating pumps are suggested for situations with high pressure differences. The drawback of reciprocating machines is the large number of sealing points, complex components, and difficult maintenance.
Which gases? Hydrogen compressors, ammonia compressors, propylene compressors, exhaust gas compressors, and so on – these are determined based on the needs of the factory
Any gas can be compressed; it depends on the operating conditions.
