After taking a quick look at API682, it wasn’t possible to find out at what level of internal leakage the seal needs to be repaired, or how many drops of leakage per minute on the atmospheric side require repair.

In the case of a leak in the internal seal, there are usually level switches and pressure switches on the seal fluid tank to provide alerts; repair is necessary once these switches reach their set values

Both double-end face seals come equipped with level or pressure alarms; maintenance is required once the alarm threshold is reached. Previously, there were corresponding standards for external leakage; now, from a safety and environmental perspective, any leakage is no longer permitted.

Model 53B is equipped with a accumulator-based pressure stabilization device that allows the medium to leak into the interior of the equipment; the specific requirements in this regard can be found in the instruction manual, or by referring to API682, which outlines the specific guidelines for leakage.
This type is equipped with a accumulator; the pressure of the sealing fluid is higher than that of the medium inside the pump chamber, and when the first seal leaks, the sealing fluid will flow into the pump body. This is relatively safe; it is possible to decide whether to replace the seal based on the frequency of fluid replacement. Assuming it is replenished a few times a month, it can be used under observation; if it needs to be replenished every few days, then considering replacing the seal is advisable.
