After replacing the piston rod, packing, and support ring, leakage was detected as soon as pressure was applied; upon further disassembly, cracks were found on the piston rod

There is no raised sensation when touching back and forth with the fingers, but a depressed sensation is felt when sliding with the fingernails in an axial direction. What is the cause of it?
The packing is too tight; it should be able to move somewhat within the packing chamber
Lubrication: with oil or without oil; presence of impurities in the material

Compressor packing and pump packing are not the same thing; not only are the types of packing different, but the methods of installation also vary. In compressors, the packing ring is usually held in place by springs, which use their elastic force to press the inner ring against the shaft. The pump packing is a solid plug, which is then tightly compressed with a gland.

I asked a teacher who specializes in installation yesterday, and he said it might be that some part of the piston is stuck, which causes the piston to move in a jerky manner during its back-and-forth motion, resulting in vibrations in the piston rod.

Check the material of the packing as well as the surface treatment of the piston rod; if the packing gap is large, use shims with a smaller inner diameter to fit around the piston rod. Also, determine what the clearance is at the openings on the shaft where the packing, sealing ring, and tangential ring are fitted. After the piston rod is installed, turn the shaft to measure the axial runout. Check whether the packing cooling water is blocked, and monitor the temperature at the packing area during operation to see if it is high
