Zhongke Fuhai provided a 4000W@4.5K large-scale cryogenic refrigeration system for this project, offering essential cryogenic cooling capacity for the accelerator equipment in the **IP-SAFE project for science and education infrastructure. The main accelerator unit of the IP-SAFE project, constructed by the Institute of Modern Physics, was successfully installed on-site in Lanzhou New Area. This marks the most important step forward in the construction of the world’s first industrial-scale production demonstration facility for alpha medical isotopes using a superconducting linear accelerator, laying a solid foundation for the complete realization of the IP-SAFE project. The IP-SAFE project, whose full name is “Accelerator-Based Platform for the Research and Development of Medical Isotope Drugs,” is one of the scientific and educational infrastructure initiatives under the **14th Five-Year Plan**. Leveraging the technical expertise and advantages of the Institute of Modern Physics in areas such as high-current superconducting linear accelerators, high-power targets, and isotope separation, this project aims to achieve large-scale production of medically important alpha isotopes that are in short supply worldwide – actinium-225 and radium-223 – in order to address China’s long-term reliance on imports for such high-end medical nuclear isotopes. Since its official launch on July 5, 2024, the project team has always adhered to the core principles of \"overcoming bottlenecks, ensuring quality, and improving efficiency.\" By working together with determination and perseverance, they managed to complete the on-site installation of the main components of the project accelerator device in a timely and orderly manner within less than one and a half years. The achievement of this interim result represents another significant step taken by the Institute of Modern Physics in pursuing the \"four orientations,\" facilitating the transformation of achievements from large-scale scientific facilities, and contributing to the health and well-being of the people. Once completed, this facility will significantly enhance the level of nuclear medicine diagnosis and treatment in our country, thereby injecting new momentum into the development of the biomedical industry there.
