What does shaft play in a canned motor refer to, and how can it be adjusted if the play is too large? Thank you.
The adjustment of axial play is done by adding shims at the impeller; for multi-stage units, shims are added between the shaft sleeves and guide vanes to make the adjustment. If the play is too large, not only should shims be added, but the thrust disc and bearings also need to be inspected for wear; if there is wear, they must be replaced.
We cannot adjust the rotor play; it is fixed once the bearings and bushings are installed. If the requirements specified in the manual are not met, it will be necessary to disassemble and reinstall everything; check the pictures to see which bearings or impellers are not properly installed. Displacement actually refers to the force applied to move or push the impeller, that is, the distance the impeller moves back and forth.
