Everyone is welcome to participate in the discussion. --------------------------------------------------------- Dalian Refrigerator Factory was the first factory in Liaoning Province to produce refrigeration equipment; its predecessor was Xinmin Iron Factory, which was established in September 1930. Its main business at that time was the repair of foreign refrigerators and some auxiliary equipment. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Dalian Refrigerator Factory became a key enterprise in China for the development and production of various types of refrigeration equipment, as well as a major manufacturer of complete refrigeration systems for export. It is the most advanced testing facility for refrigeration product performance in the country’s refrigeration industry, and it is also the only manufacturer in this industry to have received a Gold Award.
In November 1965, China’s first 8AS17 type refrigeration compressor was successfully developed at the Dalian Refrigerator Factory. The emergence of this type of refrigerator marks that the technical level of refrigerator production in our country has begun to rank among the world’s leading levels.
In March 1964, Dalian Refrigerator Factory sent engineering and technical personnel to attend a meeting on the formulation of new standards for small and medium-sized piston refrigeration compressors, which was organized by Bureau 1 of China’s First Ministry of Mechanical Industry. The meeting initially established the series parameters and technical-economic indicators for refrigeration compressor products. Once the new product series is initially determined, joint design is first carried out on the three most complex products in the series: 8AS17, 8AS12.5, and 8AS10. According to a notice from the First Ministry of Mechanical Industry, Dalian Refrigerator Factory took the lead in undertaking the joint design of the 8AS17 type refrigerators and the development of prototype units. In the design, engineering and technical personnel drew extensively on the technical features of advanced foreign products, adopting a high-speed multi-cylinder counter-current structure that is small in size, light in weight, and easy to control and adjust. The machine is equipped with 8 cylinders, with a cylinder diameter of 170 mm, a piston stroke of 140 mm, and a rotational speed of 720 r/min. The cooling capacity under standard conditions is 512 KW (440,000 kcAL/h). The compressor can start without a load, and it is capable of adjusting the cooling capacity in response to changes in heat load. The flow direction of the compressed gas has been changed from co-current to counter-current.
In early 1965, the development of a prototype of the 8AS17 was completed. After 500 hours of type testing, all the technical and economic parameters of this machine met the design requirements, and some of its thermal performance indicators were on par with or even exceeded those of advanced foreign products at that time. It surpassed various refrigeration units produced in China at that time in terms of product design, level of automation, as well as the versatility and interchangeability of its components. In September of the same year, the 8AS17 prototype passed the ministerial appraisal. After the successful development of the 8AS17 prototype, the factory decided to make the 8AS17 refrigeration compressor its core product and gradually develop a series of related products.
