One of our factory’s filters has a head diameter of approximately 1200 mm, uses RF flanges, and is equipped with wound gaskets. Its normal operating temperature is 220°C, while the backflush temperature is -4°C; the temperature cycle lasts around 36 hours per cycle. This sealing surface leaks frequently, and the leakage points are not fixed; sometimes there are multiple leakage spots around it. Head bolts with additional disc spring washers also often leak. I would like to ask the experts: are there any other good suggestions or ways to handle this?
Apply glue after stamping (or welding).
Tighten the bolts once per cycle; after maintaining this for a while, it should get better
When tightening the bolts, pay attention to the sequence and the amount of force used; tighten them once per cycle, and after several such tightenings it will be done, provided that the sequence of tightening is followed.
Consider the factor of excessive temperature changes...
It is likely that the flange deformed due to thermal stress, which in turn caused the leakage. It is advisable to choose flanges of a higher weight class to ensure sufficient rigidity.
Would it be better to have a higher bolt preload within the allowable range?
Is it that the bolt strength is insufficient? Try using a high-strength one.
Replace the gasket, and don’t forget to tighten it with heat
