Is a non-destructive testing report required for the inspection of welding test plates? How to issue a non-destructive testing report when the test specimen has defects but these can be avoided during the physical and chemical tests?
Generally, the welding test plate is to be connected to the extended portion of the cylinder’s longitudinal seam; after welding is completed, a negative photo must be placed between the cylinder’s longitudinal seam and the welding test plate as proof representing the welding test plate. As for the non-destructive testing of other parts of the test specimen, its purpose is to prevent defects in the sampled area from affecting the evaluation of the specimen’s performance; a normal defect report is sufficient.
The purpose of test plate flaw detection is to avoid defects when sampling.
The defects in the test plates should be within the standard allowable range, allowing for the presence of such defects.
