I think the first thing to do is determine the supply and return water temperatures for heating (130°C/70°C could be chosen), so as to set the boiler temperature parameters accordingly; The hot water generated by the boiler is divided into two parts: one is used directly for heating, while the other part of hot water is heated through a heat exchanger to be used for bathing and washing clothes ; Next, it is necessary to roughly determine the installation location of the boiler and its approximate distance from the camp, in order to estimate the heat loss that occurs during the transfer of hot water ; Next, it is necessary to calculate the heat load of the building’s structural elements for maintenance purposes. This calculation is rather complicated; one can simply refer to the standards (I’ve forgotten which ones exactly – you should look them up carefully. I can help you check them if I have time). These standards provide values for the heating heat load in different regions. Of course, these are specific to China, but you in foreign countries can use them as a reference (to see whether the camps have any insulation measures). In any case, an approximate value should be calculated at this initial stage ; Then, the heat required for domestic water use is calculated, along with the desired temperature of the hot water (50 or 60 degrees is generally sufficient), as well as the maximum hourly water consumption. Based on the efficiency of the heat exchanger, the amount of heat needed can be determined. The main heat consumption should come from these three components. By adding them together and multiplying by a safety factor, we can obtain an approximate figure for the amount of heat that the boiler needs to generate; based on this, the appropriate boiler can be selected.
