Suddenly a question arose regarding the definition of the pressure vessel itself. I have seen the definition of the vessel body in TSG21-2016; but how is an external pipeline or device determined? 2 Is what isn’t on the design diagram considered the exterior? 3 If the drawing does not specify a nozzle, is welding one on site considered part of the main body? 4 The other two will be discussed later
It is defined by the first weld joint, the flange sealing surface, or the threaded connection – this is specified in the standards

Taking the first weld joint as a boundary, the flange is welded to one end of the pipe, while the other end of the pipe is welded to the cylinder body – isn’t the flange part of the pressure vessel itself? Let me rephrase my question: what is not considered part of the pressure vessel itself? Give an example, but avoid saying that anything outside what is specified in the regulations is not part of the pressure vessel
The \"body\" you are referring to should be the entire equipment as it is upon completion of manufacturing of that pressure vessel; during on-site installation, components that are installed alongside other equipment do not fall under the category of the body.
Once the equipment is completed, welding is generally not allowed; so how can new openings be made? There can’t be that much; if this is to be done, it requires design calculations and approval, along with re-compression and inspection.
