I don’t know why the image can’t be uploaded. It can only be described in words: Who knows what function the drain on the gate valve serves? One is on the valve cover of the gate valve, and the other is at the bottom of the gate valve
Used for degassing; commonly known as a purge hole~
If the medium is a solid fluid, particles may block the valve passage, making it particularly difficult to open and close the valve; in such cases, by opening the vent on the valve, the pressure within the pipeline can be used to expel these particles.
Why is it installed on the valve? Can’t it be used on the pipeline? I’ve never seen a gate valve with an air vent before either

Globe valves with purge holes are mostly used in media containing solid dust or particles, such as fluidized catalysts； Since the medium contains solid dust, when the valve is closed or opened, this dust or particles remain in the valve passage, preventing the valve from closing or opening fully and causing internal leakage; opening the purge hole allows the solid dust or particles trapped in the valve passage to be removed. Using such valves with refined diesel as the medium might be a temporary solution, or it could be necessary in certain operating conditions where dust or particles are present.

The sealing performance of this gate valve should be similar to that of ordinary gate valves, right?
