The strength of fiberglass-reinforced plastic storage tanks is not very high, and the cost of steel-lined tanks is somewhat high. Do any of you experts have any better alternatives?
The most common carbon steel will do. The resin in fiberglass is not resistant to alkalis, and some plastics are also not resistant to alkalis.
We use carbon steel tanks for 30% sodium hydroxide, and no problems have ever occurred
:) If you prefer fiberglass, have the manufacturer handle the anti-corrosion treatment for you – there should be no problem with that; 40% of our products work just fine in such cases.
For normal temperatures, a regular carbon steel tank is sufficient.
Are there any special requirements if carbon steel tanks are used, such as thickness, or is any special treatment required for the inner wall?

No special treatment requirements are needed for the inner wall. Clean it when it gets dirty, remove rust when it forms – this is normal behavior. Finding a legitimate design and manufacturing company will solve your problem.
