I would like to share with you the low liquid phase load distributor and matching packing tower project I came across recently. The project uses a secondary trough-type liquid distributor and high-efficiency plate corrugated structured packing. After the current start-up, I found that the liquid distribution did not reach the ideal value of the design. In order to solve the problem, I entered the tower to observe and found that the primary tank was After feeding, the liquid level at the left and right ends of the tank was inconsistent, resulting in the liquid level in the secondary tank being inconsistent, so that one side was higher and one side was lower. So the horizontal debugging was performed again. The effect was a little better, but it still did not achieve the expected design effect. I would like to ask all Sichuan friends, if you have similar design experience, can you share or correct me? For large distributors with low feed rates, I know sulzer and montz have relevant experience. Wasn't the hydraulic test done in the test tower before leaving the factory? In which direction does uneven liquid distribution occur?
Hydraulic testing was done before leaving the factory. On-site installation was done by personnel from the tower factory and the owner. The level on site was too short, resulting in uneven distribution of the liquid phase during actual driving.
At first glance, it doesn’t look like it was professionally designed. Where did the drawings come from?
The drawings are made by a professional team, but the designer can only pay for the drawings and cannot do too much haha
But from a professional perspective, this design is just average.
From your professional perspective, how should such a large distributor with low liquid phase load be designed? I have seen distributors from Sulzer and Montz companies, and I can only say that they have the same purpose.

The liquid layer height of the secondary tank is inconsistent, which is related to the levelness of the primary tank and the opening area of the distribution box of the primary tank. The opening area of each secondary tank is proportional to the opening area of the distribution box of its corresponding primary tank. Also, I don’t know what the opening diameter of the distribution box of the primary tank is. When the liquid volume is low, I don’t know if the liquid layer height in the primary tank exceeds the distribution hole by more than 40mm. If the liquid layer height is too low, liquid level fluctuations will also affect the distribution.
The production is very average, not at a professional level. The distributor is a very important component in the packed tower. You must not be careless and not optimistic about the effect in this picture.
